Our First Few Days

Our first few days at home have been wonderful! Kensington is such a happy baby. She has many people around to hold her and spoil her. Even Martini is taking to her! We weren't sure how our first baby would react to the new arrival in her house, but she has done very well.

It is so fun to have a little family now. We just love laying around with each other.

We were so lucky that the first few days at home we had beautiful weather. I think she new she had to come a few days early so that we could enjoy it together. We were able to get out and go for a walk. I made it one time around the block, which is about .6 miles, but hey...baby steps! I do feel pretty silly walking so slow, but I'm getting faster every day. I just can't wait until I can go out for my first run!

We have had a lot of visitors around here too! Kensington's godmother Amy came by on Tuesday night and she was in love! She was so cute holding her! She even brought some good supplies...diapers, wipes, and entertainment magazines for mom! Keri, Julie, and Jamie, girlfriends of mine from school have all come by to see her. Chris' sister came from Rockford to meet her niece...the best part is that she is a pediatrician, so nice to have her to be able to ask questions to!

Kensington got her first bath the other night. I was afraid she was going to hate it, but she really liked it! You should have seen her getting her hair washed, she just laid back and relaxed. She did get a little fussy towards the end...I'm sure she got a little cold! She just looked so cute wrapped in her towel, that is WAY too big for her! Maybe one day she'll fill it out, but for today I just can't imagine her being any bigger. I want her to stay this small forever!

We had a nice sunny morning yesterday. We decided to let Kensington lay in the sun, she was a little jaundice so Chris' sister suggested that's what we do. My friend Julie bought her these sunglasses. It was hilarious to see her lying in the sun. Martini decided to join in the fun too...I mean it is her favorite spot! The two had some bonding time!

Yesterday I had to get out of the house so we ran a few errands. We went to Babies R Us, Target, and Costco! Today was a rainy gross day so we decided to take Kensington on her first shopping trip! We went to Northbrook Court to walk around. Tonight we are just relaxing at home and Chris has started reading a book to Kensington every night. It is so sweet watching the two of them together. They are definitely in love!

Kensington Marie

On Monday, May 9th at 6:36 am Chris and I welcomed our daughter, Kensington Marie, into the world.  She was a very good girl and came the morning after Mother's Day.  (I really wanted to make it to my favorite restaurant for lunch that afternoon!)

Labor was quick, just under 4 hours, with no drugs! My doctor almost didn't make it to the hospital! Kesnington is much smaller than we thought!  Chris and I were both 22 inches and I was 9lbs, so we just assumed she'd be bigger!  But, she weighed in at 7lbs 9oz and 19 inches long.  She has a full head of hair!  So glad that I bought all those hair bows!

We spent one night in the hospital, and came home on Tuesday.  I was very ready to get home!  Of course the coming home dress I bought for her was huge!!  But the bow fit!!

Yesterday we spent the day at home enjoying our new daughter.  Chris has been able to work from home so he can spend the day with us!  My parents are in town and they are LOVING being grandparents!  Having them here has been so helpful.  The house is clean and the meals are cooked, I just get to enjoy being a mom!

I think one of the best things about being a mom to a daughter is dressing her!  We've had many outfit changes in the first two days, mainly because I love dressing her up!  Of course some of the outfits are too big, I see it as an excuse to go out and buy more clothes!  Everyone keeps telling me that in two weeks she'll fit into everything...but who wants to wait a few weeks!  I think we'll stick to what we have though, considering her closet is overflowing!  Grandpa is going to install a second rack in her closet today!

Here is what she has worn so far!

Coming home outfit!

Second outfit for the day!  She had to match her bed!

Day 2: Her Ralph Lauren Dress

Then we had some good old naked time!  It was hot in the house...and there is nothing cuter than a naked baby!

And her final outfit for the day!  Company was coming...so we had to get dressed up!

I can't believe that this little bundle of joy is for us to keep!  For the first day or so Chris and I both felt that we were babysitting or something and someone was going to come and take her back.  I don't think it really hit us until we brought her home.  We have loved every second of being parents, even the diaper changes!  Which Chris has gotten very good at!  She is a great sleeper and has only been getting up to feed at night every 4 hours, which her mother greatly appreciates!  I can't wait to see her grow, but I also want to keep her this little forever!

Getting Started

I have been promising many people now that I would get started with my blog. One said my blog was even boring (Thanks Julie!). Life has been so busy lately that everytime I think I should sit down and write something I get distracted. The last few months have been incredibly busy. Up until a few weeks ago I was in the middle of my semester of Grad school and co-directing my school's musical. With all of these things finally done I have time to breathe. Now, I can focus on wedding plans! Chris and I are getting married in 58 days. I can't believe that it is almost here. This week I have been working on getting invitations sent out. (The post office is going to love me on Saturday!)
In between all of this I am still trying to finish up the school year. In fact I should be working on my report cards right now, but don't have the energy. Anyway, school will be over in a week and after that all I have to worry about is the wedding!
